West Valley SEIS

SEIS for the West Valley Site Information Center


This website is the online center for public information and involvement in the Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement (SEIS) for the West Valley Site (DOE/EIS-0226-S1) (SEIS for the West Valley Site).

The U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE’s) Office of Environmental Management and the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) are jointly preparing this SEIS for Phase 2 decommissioning decisionmaking for the West Valley Site. Phase 2 includes the facilities and areas remaining at the West Valley Site after completion of Phase 1 decommissioning. This SEIS evaluates potential alternatives for these facilities and areas. This website is the online center for public information and involvement in the SEIS process.


Announcements


DOE and NYSERDA Announce the Extension of the Scoping Period for the Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement for the West Valley Site (DOE/EIS-0226/S1).

The publication of the Notice of Intent and Draft Scope in the Federal Register and a summary in the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation’s Environmental Notice Bulletin (ENB) started a public scoping period that originally ended April 23, 2018. In follow-on notices in the Federal Register and ENB , DOE and NYSERDA have extended the scoping period to May 25, 2018, and invite public comments on the draft scope of the SEIS through that date.
